Vodacom
No service for the last 609 days

At the beginning of March 2012, I upgraded my cell phone contract to a new BlackBerry phone at a contract price of R327/month (a total cost todate of over R6500). There was a six week delay between contract signing and handset provision. Unfortunately the Vodashop staff (and 5 different official Vodacom repair shops) have never been able to get the handset to work. I bought a cheap phone so that I could at least be able to make calls and send SMSes, but I've only been able to make 4 or 5 calls and send 2 or 3 SMSes over the last 20 months although I can receive both calls and SMSes. Dozens of visits to the shop and calls to 082111 (using an MTN cell phone because I can't use the Vodacom one) have proved fruitless. I have only 4.5 months left on my contract which I will - obviously - not renew but I feel I'm entitled to the service I'm paying for. Although I signed the contract in early March, Vodacom unilaterally extended the contract end from the beginning of March 2014 to 26 April 2014. Vodacom have repeatedly refused to supply a copy of the contract (to which I am entitled) and that prevents me complaining to ICASA and other consumer organisations.
