I took an expensive Sony Xperia Z contract with MTN as an upgrade. One of the major features they advertise is that the phone is water resistant with all flaps closed under water for up to 30 minutes. My phone was placed in a bowl of water for under 10 seconds with all flaps secured as a demonstration to some friends and the phone got damaged. When I took it to the MTN service centre they said that they have voided my MTN contract warranty due to liquid damage and that they cannot help me. They referred me to Sony itself with no contacts details. It was as if I was thrown to the dogs. Terrible Customer Service, misleading and incorrect marketing of the product. Pathetic after service and passing the buck. MTN were very quick to state that their contracts don't cover liquid damage which I feel is unacceptable as they openly market the phone as water resistant. My concern is what happens when the consumer is not at fault and the product is not what it is advertised to be!! I am a loyal, long standing customer of MTN and am highly disappointed. I will be looking to change my service provider and take my business elsewhere and will also network my dissatisfaction starting HERE!!!
