Vodacom
Insurance problems

Good day, my name is Nombasa Busakwe, I bought a phone (Lumia 920) on contract in Jan 2013, I then insured the phone with Vodacom insurance. I did specify that the phone is a gift, my brother was not going to use the contract SIM but his prepaid SIM card (with a different number). I was assured at the store (canal walk Cape Town) that, it did not matter which SIM was using the phone since I have various cellphone contracts with Vodacom. Unfortunately my brother was mugged and took the phone. I followed all the required procedure and supplied Vodacom with all the information and documents they needed from me. They reviewed my claim and INFORMED me that they WERE NOT GOING TO REPLACE THE PHONE, as per our contractual agreement. Their reason was, I quote, " We do not insure cellphones, but we insure sim cards, and the handset was not using the sim card that it came with." I am angry, disappointed and discouraged as their loyal customer because I am now paying R399 (until 2015) for a phone that I dont poses and that I had insured appropriately. Their reply to me has shown me that they dont care about what they had told me, I was mis-lead and and ill-informed by Vodacom when I took it
