Just another cracked screen

I got my Xperia V in March 2013 and was very pleased with it. After a couple months it started giving problems; 1. the screen would go dark and the battery would get really hot (only way to restart phone was to remove battery because phone would freeze)
2. most of the time the reception is down to only one bar and I'd get missed call notifications instead of calls.
Then I knocked my phone from a coffee table and the screen broke. I asked Vodacom repairs to look into the reception prob aswell. Yesterday I got a quote for R 3200 to fix EVERYTHING including reception prob because - " the warranty was void bc of scratches and marks on the phone". According to the lady its Sony policy to void the warranty, which brings me to my point - If you crack the screen on your Samsung or Iphone, not only do you still have a warranty but they fix it for FREE (Samsung) and even replace the phone for FREE (Apple)... multiple times. So now I have to pay 50% of the value of my phone to get back a phone thats got no warranty and didn't function correctly to start with..!!?? Before I would recomend the Xperia anytime; now? - not so much
