Cancellation fee debited without reason

I took out a new contract through Cell C direct. I took a blackberry 9790 and it was delivered to my door. After receiving the phone I decided that I wasn't happy with it and wanted to change the deal. I informed them the very next day and it was collected the day after that. After contacting them for a month they finally confirmed receipt of the phone and acknowledged that there was nothing wrong with the phone it was still in the original condition.

I then took out a deal on the Samsung S4 mini at the Cell C direct store. On the 1st of October they deducted R4370 from my account for cancellation fee!!! This was such a shock and I immediately phoned them as I didn't cancel I simply changed the deal. At no point I was ever informed that my account would be debited with the amount in question. I have been struggling since to get a refund. I have made at least 5 calls, each time them promising to look into it and "someone will get back to me" - this never happens.

what do I have to do to get a refund?? I am so upset I wish I never took out a contract with them.
