I phoned for a settlement figure on a contract that has 9 months to go! They tell me to pay in R4600 in order to terminate. They calculate this amount by taking a insurance replacement value of the Ipad at todays value at R9000 (for a 16 month old iPad), divide it by 24 and multiply by 9 (months to go), add on unbilled month's subscription plus another months subscription which has been paid via debit order and this is how they work it out!
Surely you cannot charge me for a replacement value when i took this contract, the value of the iPad was only R5k. Im sure the consumer protection act prohibits this?
When telling this to the call centre agent, he responds by saying "well thats how it is calculated"! Really?!?
I need someone to apply Logic to this? You cannot charge me at the value of a brand new IPad today for a 16 month old iPad which cost less when i took the contract in the first place.
