New contract, very bad service and broken phone!!!

I took out a MTN contract 6 weeks ago. As I'm still using my other phone for work I only used the phone on weekends. About 3 weeks ago, after very little use, the speaker stopped working. I phoned MTN to arrange for the phone to be repaired or replaced but after 3 weeks of constant struggling I am hoping I might get some response through this site.

During the last 3 weeks I have phoned MTN just to be sent from the one person to the other. When I ask to speak to a manager the phone just gets cut off. I have used more than R200 worth in fuel and phone costs just to try and sort this problem out, but to no avail! As far as I am concerned this is breach of contract as I have already had money debited from my account but no use of the product OR service as in the contract. In short - 5 weeks after I've received the phone it broke. I am stuck with a broken phone that no one from MTN will help me with but still have to pay them money for the broken phone!

MTN, please advice on a solution to the problem.
