2 Weeks until upgrade and no consideration

I have 2 weeks left until my upgrade, and my current phone which is the Blackberry 9900 which i have had for just short of 2 years, the keyboard has stopped working, rendering the phone completely useless. I took it in to the Cresta branch for repairs and they said it would take 7-10 working days. So i have to sit without a phone for 2 weeks (and i am in IT and cannot be without a phone for that long.) All i asked was for my upgrade to be pushed up by 2 weeks, so that i could have a functional phone which is not long in comparison to a 24 month contract.
I was then told by the retention's consultant that cellphones durable enough and are not made to last for 24 months and there was nothing he could do to help me??? So now i still sit without a phone, and am seriously considering cancelling my contract instead of upgrading in 2 weeks time and getting my phone though FNB, which i think a lot people have done due to the poor customer service MTN is offering.
