How can you mess up SO much on a new contract???

I went to MTN in Nicolway to port from Cellc to MTN and opened a new contract there. Now 5 days later, I have my new MTN sim card but it is useless as I cannot make or receive any calls or sms'es. Apparently my service has "been suspended". I went into the store (AFTER spending two hours there the day before and calling the person who helped me about 20 times) to try to find out the reason. He could not help me. he phoned the MTN customer line and he said that he was told that my account has not been fully activated yet and it was not his fault. I phoned the customer line and I was told that i was "RICA suspended". Now I do not know what is going on and I cant even phone to find out as I do not have a working contract.
