Vodacom making life complicated

I purchase a Vodacom pre-paid 3G modem last week. Activating the modem was simple and easy with in 10 mints I was reading emails surfing the wed and downloading. I purchased 500 megs data (Promotional) now cannot see my balance any were on My Vodacom log in call centre 155 tells me they cannot assist me at all as even they cannot see my balance. I must do the following...
1. Log off my modem and remove sim card
2. I must switch off my phone remove battery and sim card
3. Insert sim with data bundles and battery reset time and date
4. Then dial *111# follow all the instructions
5. Then I should have my data balance shows me 500 mg only
6. Then switch off phone again remove battery and data sim
7. Insert phone sim battery reset time and date again
8. Put data sim back in modem insert and reconnect again
9. I still do not have my promotional data balance
10. Call centre again cannot help me
11. So I now have to go to a Vodacom store nearest store is 6km away
12. All this just to get a data balance incredible
I am trying monitoring my data usage so I can budget but this now very complicated and time consuming
