I get 350mb per month, free data, as per my contract. But after that, the premium charge of R2 per MB applies - horrendous. So I set my smartphone, to advise me each time I go over the 350mb, and I purchase more data, from the MTN App (Mymtn).
I log into the app, it shows my phone number and contract details, I select the "buy data bundle 2gig at R249". I then get an sms saysing, "Y'ello, you have successfully loaded a contact Once Off Volume Data 2GB bolt on data bundle".
I did this on 17 Jan 2013 (500mb), 15 May (2gb), 18 May (2gb), 21 May (2gb), 24 May (2gb), 31 May (2gb), 1 June (2gb), 3 June (2gb), 27 June) 2gb), 5 July (2gb), 13 July (2gb). A total of over 20gb.
On the 21 August, I went into the MTN store, to try gain an understanding of why my data bill was so high, and to my complete dismay discovered than not ONCE had the data, I had purchased on my app, been credited to my account, despite the confirmation SMS received.
This explains the absolutely exorbitant bills I have been getting.
I reported this matter to MTN ref 103251276 on 21 August and have not yet had a response.
I want an audit done of my phone bill, and refund for overlimit data incorrectly charged.
