After an incredibly frustrating process to close my Telkom account in January 2012 I have encountered nothing but harassing & threatening messages from Attorneys.
In Jan 2013 (a full year after I closed this account) I received numerous SMS's from a MMY Attorneys stating that I owe Telkom money. After 2 weeks of e-mails being sent back & forth showing that I closed this account I eventually heard nothing back assuming that this matter had been resolved.
8 months later.
I receive more threatening & harassing SMS's from a new set of debt collectors, VVM Debt on 21 Aug 2013 stating that I owe them R1774, 34. I made contact with VVM again explaining to them that the last time I received a Telkom statement was in Jan 2012 when I had closed the account. I have not received an account since then.
VVM Debt says that they will request a statement & send it to me. Today I receive another SMS from them saying I now owe them R1801, 52. After making contact with the call centre again, I asked where the statement is & why the amount has increased - the call centre agent says they are charging me R27 to request the statement.
This behaviour from both parties is disgusting & unreasonable!!
