Vodacom
On-line Handset Upgrade

The on-line handset upgrade was processed satisfactorily on 24 July with delivery on Wed/Thursday. On Friday 26 I inserted the new microSIM, and the Lumia 720 worked satisfactorily until Saturday 27, when the display died, and the instrument could not be switched on/off. I went to Vodaworld, where after an extended wait, the instrument was replaced. When I got the replacedment home, it gave the "No SIM" message in the display, after a number of trials. Vodacom's 082 1959 service could not assist until they had collected the defective instrument, and tested it. In the meantime my previous SIM had been cancelled, and until I bought a "Pay-as-you-go" I was off the air, but was still unable to do cell-phone banking. An e-mail to Vodacom eventually got a human reply, but to be able to keep my number (for work, banking etc) I had to do another SIM-Swap. The defective instrument has still not been collected, but I cannot do an upgrade until Vodacom cancel the previous upgrade - which they cannot do until the bad one is collected. Most frustrating and inefficient service.
