MTN Mis-information is ripping of customers

We've had anMTN internet dongle for almost 20mnths. We signed a contract for R149 for 2Gigs.
Seldom, our monthly debit order has been slightly higher than that, but never enough to waste time in questioning this. The last 2 mths, we have received accounts of over R500, and R2 000-YES -2 THOUSAND Rand!
When queried, we were told by 2 different call centre reps that we basically did not have an option but to pay the account, as we did not select the 'Top Up' option, which is when they would then indeed 'cut off' your internet usage after the 2 Gigs were used up.
I have checked my copy of my signed contract - NO WHERE does it state that they will NOT cut off your usage to allow you to top up yourself, after the 2G is used up. WHO checks usage still available every time they connect?? ESPECIALLY when you safely presume that if you sign a contract that states 2G @ R149, and nothing states otherwise, AND you have NOT been INFORMED otherwise, or informed of additional costs/rates, that MTN will simply clock up gigs at a ridiculously exorbitant rate?
Apparently we used 8GB - which implies that the 6G over and above the contracted 2G cost over R333 per Gig?
How can this not be breach of contract?
