Bad account management

I terminated my contract in October 2012 when my contract period ran out. I did a port transfer to Vodacom. At the time Autopage informed me that my contract have to be paid up in full before they can do a transfer. I did the payment and the transfer was done. Now they still claim that I have an outstanding balance. Every time I query it with them they said that it will be looked into. All I get in return is monthly letters of "Final Demand". How can I still owe anything if they requested that I settle my account before the port transfer would be done? I had calls from their accounts department insisting that I pay. They were not interested in my side of the story and when they did confirm to look into the matter, I never get any feedback.
