Telkom
Telephone landlines down (dead) since Saturday 3rd

Since 3 Aug all landlines are down, no signal whatsoever. We were notified via SMS that Telkom was going to 'upgrade' lines - their website noticeboard states: "From 03/08 - 18/08 - Impact: Medium; The migration process to new network equipment has commenced in your exchange area. Customers will still be able to make outgoing calls throughout the period indicated but no incoming calls will be possible for up to 8 hours"
1) Medium? The impact is severe! There's been NO active line for the past CONTINUOUS 5 days!
2) Telkom states that, to upgrade an exchange or to fix a fault, takes longer than 2 weeks? Where do they get the replacement parts from, the planet Mars? And that we will have NO connections for all this period, due to the fact that they hold the monopoly and don't care of disruptions in people's lives?
3) I WANT to be refunded for the non-service period, both for telephonic and for ADSL.
The ONLY means of talking to Telkom is via their pathetic toll-free number, run by the clueless call centre operators who reply "we logged the fault, here's the reference number."
I want ANSWERS and a speedy SOLUTION! There are people and businesses who use the telephone to make a living.
