A week ago I went to Somerset Mall's Telkom store to sort out a telephone line installation and ADSL package,
On the phone, the call centre employees were incredibly helpful and told me that the telephone line and ADSL line would be installed within 7 working days. Fantastic! Much quicker than I expected! At the store however, things were running at snail pace, with only one consultant having to help everyone while 5 other employees were just standing around doing nothing (not their problem, not their department type of attitude). They were also passing snide comments for us to "just be patient" and laughing under their breaths.
When I eventually reached the consultant, he laughed and said that there is NO WAY it would only take a week, more like 6. Well, there goes that. After the paperwork is done now, Telkom is however coming to install the lines (as the call centre said) within 7 working days. Which I am incredibly satisfied with!
I just think this particular branch needs to be taught something about customer service. They really are clueless, and when the reality is that Telkom has started maintaining this great level of service its a blemish on the company's reputation.
