I WAS AT VODACOM SOMERSET MALL IN SOMERSET WEST ON 1 AUGUST 2013 AT 5PM. I INFORMED NIGEL, THE SALESMAN THAT I AM HERE FOR AN UPGRADE ASKED WHAT PHONES DO I QUALIFY FOR ON MY CONTRACT. I WAS INFORMED THE SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 AND S3 AND THE BLACKBERRY Z10 AND Q10. I SAID THAT MY CONTRACT MUST REMAIN THE SAME. I DECIDED TO GO FOR THE BLACKBERRY Q10 AND WHEN I HAD TO SIGN THE PAPERWORK, SUDDENLY MY MONTHYLY INSTALLMENT WAS INCREASED BY R200. I WAS THEN INFORMED BY NIGEL THAT VODACOM NO LONGER GIVES A PHONE WITH A CONTRACT AND THAT YOU HAVE TO BUY YOUR PHONE. I TOLD HIM IT IS RIDICULOUS AS I HAVE HAD MY CONTRACT FOR 17 YEARS AND I HAVE ALWAYS RECEIVED A PHONE FREE ON THE CONTRACT. NIGEL WENT TO ASK SOMEONE AND CAME BACK AND SAID SORRY BUT HE CONFIRMED VODACOM NO LONGER GIVES PHONES ON CONTRACT. YOU HAVE TO BUY IT. I CANCELLED THE DE3AL AND LEFT THE STORE. I THEN PHONED THE CALL CENTRE AND WAS CUT OFF TWICE AND WAS GIVEN THE SAME ANSWER. EVENTUALLY I PHONED VODACOM CANAL WALK WHO ASSISTED ME AND I GOT A PHONE ON THE CONTRACT WITHOUT ADDITIONAL CHARGES AND EVEN CHEAPER MONTHLY COSTS.
