After setting my limit on my 2 gig 2 gig night owl data contract, I discovered that Vodacom has no system in place to stop you exceeding the 2 gig limit, resulting in additional charges.
Below is the response I received from customer care.

Kindly note that the calls and data usage that are made from your number are updated on a periodic basis.
Therefore update intervals could cause that the line is not locked at the amount stipulated on your limit.
The call limit is only activated for outgoing services i.e. calls, sms and data usage.
The VSP call limit disclaimer's terms and conditions that we have sent states the following:
The value of the limit set is excluding VAT and all monthly subscriptions.
If for any reason whatsoever, your limit is not enforced, you will remain liable to pay all charges in excess of the limit set or not.
My question.
What is the point in setting a limit if your VSP call limit terms and conditions are in favour of Vodacom and not the customer and when does the Consumer Protection Act come into play.
