Troubleshooting Appalling

I purchased a mobile phone from the Vodacom Kiosk within Musica Longbeach Mall.

The model I required was the last one and therefore the box had been opened and the phone was on display. When querying this with the sales rep he had advised me that the phone had never been switched on nor used etc.. I took his word for it and purchased the phone.

Lo and behold 3 days later the phone would not respond at all being in an off state the entire day.by the next morning it came back on all by itself. I had then checked to see whether the power saving mode was active and it was not. The phone also had dead spots on the touch screen making it difficult to select certain icons.

I decided to return the phone on the 6th day (being within the 7 days return policy) and I was told the phone would have to be sent away to Vodacom and I would receive feedback within 24 to 48 Hours. This was an untrue as I had only received feedback almost 4 days later.

The feedback I received was also unfavorable as Vodacom had stated that there was nothing wrong with the handset. I would really like to know how a phone switched on and off by itself and why there are dead spots if there is nothing wrong
