Existing customers get penalized when upgrading

It's really unfortunate that Vodacom has opted to lose me as a customer for many years for the sake of a R64 waiver refusal. If I want to upgrade to the iPhone 5, I have to have the new nano- sim. New customers get that for free, but loyal customers like myself, who spend on average R1200 per month on my account have to pay.
