'Soft Lock' on my airtime

Good Day

I have been unable to make calls - whenever I try to make any call, it just shows REJECTED on the screen.
I have called Customer Care several times during the last month and they failed to solve the problem.
The last 'champ' told me that the sim card was old and I need to go to Shoprite and do a sim swop. I did that today - I had to drive far and stand in a very long queue. But afterwards I had exactly the same message.
I phoned again, and this time Sibosiso told me there was a 'soft lock' on my cellphone and I need to buy more aitime to reactivate it!
This is totally unacceptable. Who gives Virgin the right to put a soft lock on my phone so that I cannot use the airtime I have bought?
Virgin Mobile is wasting my time and my money. What is the use of a cellphone if I cannot use it?
