Bad service or rather no service

Almost 3 months ago i upgraded my contract.after 4 days i phoned the branch saying to them that i am not entirely satisfied with the new i phone 5 as it loses signal the whole time and the battery life is not acceptable.
i was asked to go in so that we can swop the phone cause its still under 5 days, once getting the the branch i was told that i cant swop the phone as it must be send in for repairs which will take 2 weeks and then it will be decided if i can get a new one and if they will be repairing it. i then told them that i cant go without a phone as my phone is 90% of my job. On asking them if they will be giving me a loan phone a just got a strait NO!!! then i stated that if that is the case then i want to cancel the contract as its still under 5 days, their answer came back again as follows, well let him cancel it if he wants to, if that is how important contracts is to them how do they make money???
The lady logged a call and said 48 hours then they will contact me, i went after 2 weeks again the same story and its now 2 months that im still waiting, What am i to do here???
