Having been disillusioned with Telkom and their poor service, I decided to change to MWEB and phoned their Call Centre and was helped by a gentleman called Nigel Karra. Having listened to my requirements he suggested I take the Capped Internet Option Capped at 20G. Having never used more than 5-6G per month, I believed this to be the right option. However, for some unknown reason, I managed to reach my Cap by about the 16th of the month. At no point in time did anybody explain to me that if I reached my Cap that I would then be charged an exorbitant rate for data thereafter. I now find out that MWEB 'kindly' gave me another 4.86G at the unbelievable total of R994-80. This is all in the contract that you sign which I guarantee very few people read in depth and is normally seen as just a formality. At no point in time was I informed that I had reached my Cap and only after I had been conveniently ripped off did I eventually find out that I need to set up an account online and can then monitor my account and set various parameters. I wonder how many other unsuspecting people have been caught like this and how many millions MWEB is making at our expense!! This is pure daylight!
