I purchased a cellphone (blackberry 9900) at Cell C Queenstown Nonesi Mall on the 18 May 2013. The contract said I would pay R359 per month. The blackberry worked well but after 3 weeks it gave me problems. Upon returning it to Cell C I was told it was a factory fault. TAKE NOTE THIS IS AFTER 3 WEEKS OF USING THE CELLPHONE. I was told it would go in for repairs. Now my issue is that I've had this phone not even for a month and the sales consultant there said he took it to their so called nearby technician at the mall for. Cell C requested me to return all the acessories back to them up to now I have not receive any response from them. IT IS SO UNFORTUNATE THAT AT WILL BE EXPECTED TO PAY THE MONTHLY INSTALMENT WITHOUT EVEN BEING IN POSSESION OF THE PHONE FOR A FULL SINGLE MONTH.
Now according to CPA (Consumer Protection Act) we as consumers have the option of choosing our remedy- either refund, replace or repair. I don't know whether Cell C doesn't understand these options. Its easier for them to say they will repair an almost top of the range smartphone. I can not accept a phone that has been opened and repaired, I regard that as a second hand phone.
