I visited the Vodacom Shop in Somerset Mall today at 11:00 and was assisted by Quanita. I requested to do a sim swap to a smaller sim as I got a new phone I would like to use.
Quanita explained to me that their systems are currently offline and that she will do it later and made me fill in a form to so she can do it later. I was also told that I will receive a sms once it is in the system. I paid R105 for the new sim and left the store.
After 2 hours not receiving a sms I phoned the branch and was told that I will indeed receive a sms later. Finally at 15:40 I could not wait anymore and phoned the customer care line on 111 and was assisted by Siviwe whom told me that NO request was put in for a sim swap on my number. Frustated by this I requested that he do a sim swap from his side and after quite a few minutes I received a sms for the request.
Afterwards I contacted the store and Quanita explained that the systems only went on a short while ago.
This is VERY poor and ineffective service from Vodacom. How can a store be offline with such request? I have never heard that any of the other 3 service provider has such issues or problems at their branches. What is going on?
