Virgin Mobile SA had the temerity to ask for a R10 000 deposit to cover international roaming charges which I declined. I went overseas, had to use my phone for data and without me knowing Virgin had kept on my roaming from a previous overseas trip, therefore charging me and also did not keep me informed of said charges. Imagine my shock when upon arriving home, I end up with a bill for R48000!!! And all this despite the Consumer Protection Act - Virgin has offered me a 20% discount on the bill, but that still leaves nigh on R38000. Whats more, I offered to pay a monthly fee to pay off the bill and received a call asking if I could pay more; to end matters my phone was blocked last night and had to work a night shift (I am a doctor) without being able to make phone calls. Poor poor service indeed!
