On Thursday 9 May I visited the Century City MTN branch in the Smartsurv Building and submitted all the required documents in order to open a contract.
The staff member said the contract should take 1 - 2 days to approve, but that they would contact me.
By the next week Wednesday they still had not contacted me, and I was unable to get a hold of anyone who could give me any clarity. After calling other branches, I found out the Century City branch is a walk-in branch only, with no contact number. Something that I was not made aware of by any of the staff or MTN's website.
My brother went into the branch on my behalf. They then indicated that they were having problems verifying my banking details, but that they would contact me.
By Friday I had not heard anything, so I went to the branch again and they indicated that the application was still 'in processing'.
On monday, I got my bank (Investec) to call MTN and confirm all the details.
Today, almost 2 weeks later they still can't tell me when the problem would be resolved or how to resolve it. Every time they just indicate that it has been 'escalated'.
I am without a phone&the staff seem reluctant to assist.
