For the past three years I have lived and worked in the Netherlands. On 21 May 2013 I received a credit report from transunion credit bureau showing that I have a vodacom account I2969075 and my name was blacklisted for defaulting an amount of R8, 182 on that vodacom account that I had no knowledge about. The transunion report showed that the account was opened on 24 December 2011. On that date I was in Netherlands. I have not visited South Africa in the past three years. I have not applied for any vodacom account in the past three years. The account in question was opened without my consent or knowledge. It is unbelievable that vodacom did not check any of these details before opening the account.

I called the vodacom call centre and I was informed that the account was using all my personal details, my RSA ID, my name and my RSA physical address. Vodacom legal department advised me to submit supporting documents before they can investigate the matter.

I am going to submit the supporting documents to the legal department and I hope to clear my name.
Hopefully I can give feedback when I get a response from vodacom.
