3G speed advertised, but not available

I've borrowed a friend's 8ta device to test the speed and reliability of the service in Vredehoek, where Telkom advertises that their network offers 3G speeds, but the connection is unacceptably slow. I won't be purchasing any mobile broadband from Telkom... it's simply not worth it.
