MTN bills on misleading information

I went to the MTN store in Sandton to understand the dynamics of access to and cost of data roaming whilst travelling abroad. I was on my way to Thailand, hence needed data access. I had an IPAD and asked the consultant whether i should purchase data bundles (prepaid). He said that my current data bundle subscribed to would suffice, and that no cost would occur, even on roaming as i pay a fixed amount and my data is uncapped.

On my return from my holiday, i received a bill of approx. R8500.00 from MTN. Further to this, my account was merely just debited with the entire amount. Then my service was suspended and i had to pay R3000 to reconnect.

This is really fraustrating. I did not put my fone on roaming and had bought a prepaid simcard whilst on holiday (Bangkok).

I had gone to the Mtn store to provide me with the necessary information so as to a avoid a situation like this. i purchased this IPAD this year, so i have no prior understanding of how data access works internationally. I was not advised correctly, and now am forced to foot the bill. which i cannot afford.

I have tried raising these issues with the call centre without joy. RP Jewan
