Cell C
Schocking Service

My mother who is a pensioner went into the Cell C shop in the Blue Route Mall in Tokai, Cape Town. Her intention was to downgrade her contract from R50pm to R30pm due to the fact that her contract had expired. Being a pensioner her intention was to save money.

She was told by the consultant that there would be a R150 "upgrade" fee which she queried as she was "downgrading". She was informed that there was no other option. She was also informed that her account would be debited by R50 after 1 and half months and then it would be R30 pm. However as she was standing in the shop an amount of R50 was debited to her account. She queried this and was told that they did not know why this had happened. So R200 was paid over on day 1.

I went with her to the store this morning to try and sort this issue out. They had given us no paperwork for the R150. They denied that the R50 was debited from the account and said that we must bring bank statements to prove our claim. I suggested they cancel the contract and was told we should have read the contract. The manager then refused to give me her surname as this did not form part of their service!!
