Handing over cleared account to debt collectors

Not long after i signed up for the gym, things got hectic and I was unable to attend and use the gym facilities due to the nature of my work and when i asked for the contract to be cancelled, they refused and continued to take money from my bank accounts. Not long thereafter, I was badly injured and once again requested that my contract be terminated. i submitted the relevant documents and paid up what was to be paid up and was then issued with a cancellation slip. It has been three years now and after numerous phone calls from the virgin active debt collectors, numerous emails and faxes sent to them all in explanation of what happened and no response from them, they are still harassing me with sms's and emails stating that i owe them. I need this sorted as soon as possible
