The contract that I took out for my son, expired at the gym, and they did not notify me that it had expired. When enquirying when the contract would expire, as I wanted to change it to my name, so that I could use it, they told me that as a special they would let me change the contract to my name without any fees, and would extend the contract with pleasure.
They did not inform me that the contract had actually expired 5 months ago, and they had continued to collect on my debit order. When informing them I did not want the contract extended, I was told to come in and sign a document stating I want the contract ended. I asked them to email me a copy, and was told that they do not have access to email. I then went into the gym to sign a cancellation. The cancellation states that as I did not give them 30 days written notice before the contract expired, that they will now take off 3 months deductions before terminating the contract.
This is outrageous, and goes against the CPA. They are of the opinion that irrespective of what the CPA says, they can make their own rules and regulations, and they do not have to take cognisance of the CPA.
