I signed a 12 month contract with Virgin active Meyersdal in November.
The once-off joining fee of R845 was paid in November 2012, I was advised that the monthly instalment would be R86 as I was a vitality member. I tasked if that would be the amount for the duration of the contract and he concurred.
A month later my account was debited with R486, I queried and was told that because my vitality membership is no longer valid therefore the increase. According to the T &C's on the contract a notification informing of the increased rate should have been communicated prior to deucting money from account. I would have 40 days to respond. This never happened yet the amounts were deducted from my account without my consent.
I went to the branch on Monday to cancel my contract, it could not be done as they were experiencing system issues. I left my details and requested that they contact me to confirm cancellation of the contract, I refuse to pay any additional funds, needless to say I haven't been contacted.
I'm amazed that consultants will contact you continuously in order to get you to sign a contract but do not bother when you need them to rectify a problem.
