I had a one year membership at Stellebosch Virgin Active last year. Seeing as I was going abroad in August, I cancelled the contract in late August at an exorbitant fee at the Vanderbijlpark branch. I was living in Finland until recently and assumed that the contract had been cancelled and all was done and dusted. To my surprise, I returned to South Africa on 11 January of this year to find that the contract had, in fact, not been cancelled and I had been paying my monthly membership fee on top of the cancellation fee.
At the beginning of last week I went to query the mistake at the Century City branch; a staff member assured me that he would look into it, yet come Monday 20 January, I have yet to hear anything. Today, I went to Stellenbosch specifically to query the mistake; a young man by the name of Darryn insisted that the computer showed him that I had written a retraction letter after cancelling my contract. Upon pressing him about the retraction letter, he could not produce any such letter and assured me that he'll look into it, but insinuated that I would not be refunded because "computer says no."
Now, I cancelled my contract in August and want my money back. Thanks
