Poor supervision, lack of training and dishonesty

I joined Virgin Active Claremont in mid August. On the very first day I visited the gym to discuss membership, I was left to wait for 10 minutes while the front desk staff (students!!) were happy to chat, make jokes, flirt with each other etc. While the salesperson was really friendly and took me through everything, when I explicitly asked him about the membership contract he said it was a month-to-month contract. I made sure to tell him that I was not working, and therefore, a month-to-month contract was essential. "No problem", he said, "You can cancel at any time".

Since then, I have been to the gym 3 times, and my experience was less than favorable - the trainers are arrogant and the gym staff are less than enthusiastic. With one exception: Chloe was excellent. A real people's person.

After my 3rd visit I realized that this is not the gym for me and called the Sales Manager, "Dean" on Monday, September 17. He said there must be a misunderstanding as all contracts are 1 yr minimum. He would speak to the salesperson and call me back. It is September 25th I am still waiting; all in all this tells me one thing.

VIRGIN ACTIVE: YOUR WORD MEANS NOTHING. STAY AWAY FOLKS! PASOP!
