Edgars does not need anymore money

I applied for a new account more than a week ago. Application reference number: 1915321/20130417/A.N.A. After hearing nothing for a whole week, some lady phoned me asking me to confirm my work telephone number which I confirmed for her. Then another two days passes by where I here nothing and then receiving an email saying that my account has been declined and the reason is that they could not confirm my contact details. Now I would like to know why they did not phone again and ask for a alternative number than the one I supplied them with? If this is the way Edgars wants to do business, then I'll rather spend my money at another retail outlet that wants new customers, and that I'll advise people to do the same aswell.
