Slack response to warranty

We purchased a Speed Queen washing machine with a 3 year guarantee in June 2012. On 25/4/13 the machine broke down, and it was reported to Makro. Makro indicated that they will take it up with Speed Queen, we got a reference number, but nothing has happened. We will be reluctant to purchase again at Makro. Having had no response we have to take the whole family's washing to a laundromat...
