Recently i received a call from a sales person from the foschini group in South Africa working for the TFG magazine. The consultant was promoting road side assistance offered if you subscribe to their magazine. He said to me that anytime i need roadside assistance on anything, from tyre bursts to mechanical issues, the foschinin group would pay.
Sad to say this was not the case. Yesterday my tyre was damaged, did not have a spare, i tried endlessly to contact them, but the number took me to voicemail. I ended up making arrangements with a petrol attendant to have the car parked on their premises as it was around 7 in the evening and getting late.
I called the foschini group this morning enquiring about the cover, only to hear that i cannot be covered as i do not have a spare tyre.
My issue is that i was not told of this when i signed up, it is clear they were prepared to take my money, but would not assist. If ever i was in dangerous with such a problem, I probably would not be alive to tell this story. unfortunately i did not get the name of the consultant who i spoke to. My car is still at the garage, communicated this to them, but nothing came of it.
