Terrible Attitude of Edgards Employees

I went to Edgards Centurion today to pick up my new card. As I hand over my ID document to the person assisting he then tells me that they do not accept temporary IDs when issuing new cards.

When asking why an official document from the South African government is not accepted at dgards stores he could not give me a valid answer, all he could say was "we just don't" in a very rude tone. When I then asked to speak to someone incharge he was dismissive and told me that he was incharge, yet he was just a store clerk.

Even when I managed to speak to the store manager he could not give me a valid reason for this supposed Edgards policy and I had to waste money and time calling the Edgards help line who told me that it was up to the store manager to authorise the issuing of my card.

I find this absoloutely ridiculous, and can not understand how Edgards can view themselves as above the South African government and the law by rejecting official documentation issued by them. Even further upsetting was the tone in which I was spoken to, especially after the traumatic experience of having my identity document.
