In December 2012, I took a King Size Duvet for cleaning. I was quoted for the job and the store was insistent on payment BEFORE the service was rendered. Despite being told that the item would be ready for collection within 3 days, after 10 days the item was still not ready. As an apology for the poor service that I received, I was told that I could have dry cleaning done to the value of the duvet.
On the 3 April, I went to the store with some items that required dry cleaning and the original slip. I was told by the sales assistant that the voucher was no longer valid as it was "too old." At my insistence, the sales lady attempted to phone the manageress of the store (apparently her phone just rang and there was no voicemail option) and I was told to come back another time.
I was also told to leave my details, and the store would contact me. To date I have not heard from the store.
Upon relating this story to other people, I have been told of similar instances of poor service.
In this day & age with the internet and social media at their disposal, I would have imagined that customer service levels would improve, not decline.
