All 3 Hifi Corporation stores were out of stock of the Pioneer ES9 home theatre system and were not going to receive new stock due to it being discontinued. The N1 City store had a damaged system on display (one channel on the amplifier blown). The Tygervalley store had the VSX320 AV receiver instead of the VSX521 receiver (which is specified for the ES9 package) on display. The Cape Gate store did not have the remote control available and the system was covered in dust.

The store manager at Cape Gate refused to give a discount of more than R200 off a R7499 system that was on demo (this is about 2% where one would expect between 5% and 10% off a demo item). This in addition to me traveling there specifically to purchase it, having tested it the day prior. The discount would not even cover the petrol and parking costs that have been wasted due to them having an incomplete display model that they told me was available.

I find it utterly appalling that Hifi Corporation seem to have a policy of keeping damaged and incomplete demo stock on shelves and without new stock.

It's a shame that a decent brand such as Pioneer has to be tarnished by associating with Hifi Corporation.
