On 4 January 2014, I went to the CC to purchase a guitar for my nephew for his birthday. I purchased a First Act guitar bundle with a amp for R1399, the unit was however not a sealed unit it was only one left on display. I was assured by the sales staff that there was nothing wrong with the guitar and that it was only used for display. As I went away on business and was out of the country, upon my return on 14 Jan I was advised that the guitar was not working. The guitar sound is completely flat and sounds like strings that have been tied over a tin can. I called the store yesterday and spoke to the manager Alta. I explained the situation and asked if I could have a refund. I was informed no as the 14 day exchange period has lapsed and that it would be sent for repairs. In accordance with the CPA it states: "Consumer's right to return goods
20. (1) This section is in addition to in substitution for-
(a) the right to return unsafe or defective goods, contemplated in section 56; or
(b) any other right in law between a supplier and consumer to return goods and receive a refund.
I want a REFUND not a repair as this is defected goods that were on the shop floor!
