On Wed 4th December House & Home placed an advert in the media advertising Double beds at a special price. Early on 6th Dec I paid a visit to the Fourways store and an employee called Philip showed me the beds which were clearly displayed on the shop floor with a large sign advertising the special. I told Philip I would return later that day to purchase a bed. On my return 2 hours later Philip decided to check the computer and informed me that there was no stock. I asked him to call his Manager who explained that their suppliers had failed to deliver the stock to them and so there were no beds available. If this was the case why were the adverts placed in the paper and why was the stock advertised on the shop floor? The Manager was less than helpful, I offered to take a shop soiled bed from the floor at a reduced price and was told I could have the bed but at the full price!! The fact that I had been seriously inconvenieced because of the ineptitude of their staff members obviously meant nothing to them. Written complaints to Charmaine Terblanche at Head Office have received a totally unsatisfactory response. Surely H & H can be held accountable for advertising unavailable stock.
