On 2 September 2011 I bought a Phillips Tall Surround Sound System from Game Kollonade for the amount of R1999. It started giving problems in October 2012. In November 2012 the whole system just died on us. It did not work at all. On 2012/12/05 we took it back to Game Kollonade and to our surprise it only had a warranty for 12 months and not the customary 24 months as with most of their products. We were informed that the system will be sent to Phillips to what the problem is. On 2012/12/13 we received a call from Game Kollonade informing us that the repair will cost us from R890 up. They explained that units inside the dvd player need to be replaced as it is not repairable. We explained that we are not prepared to pay more than half of the total cost of the system since it is only a year old. The managers at Game informed us that they can do nothing because the warranty expired. They also said they will go back to the service provider and then give us feedback. We phoned them to get feedback several times and for a month we have not heard anything from them. Obviously Game do not trust the Phillips products to last more that 1 year, hence the 1 year warranty.
