Pick n Pay has lost my money

Hi on the 17 December 2013 at 1.15pm I bought an E-tag and asked the teller if I can buy prepaid. She said yes and opened my E-tag box and swiped the Sanral card and I paid R400.00 prepaid.
I have just registered with E-Tag as | am starting to travel to Joburg next week and my card does not have any money on - the R400, 00 is gone.
Phoned Pick and Pay and they told me to get the money back from Sanral. Sanral say they will log a case.
Is this happening to everyone?
