I received an account from SANRAL last week, in fact three on the same day, which arrived way over the date due for the discount. The bill for the use of 3 Gantries, totallying R60.30, and I drive a car (no trailer). I went to query this at the E Toll booth at Northmead Shopping centre in Benoni, where I was told that because I do not have an E Tag, I am being charged 3 TIMES the price of the advertised rate on the boards!!! This is not only criminal on the part of SANRAL, but is devious. The consumer always pays the rate advertised be it at Pick & Pay, Woolworths etc, and if you have a store card, you qualify for a discount off the ADVERTISED rate!!! SANRAL is charging non E Tag road users... THREE TIMES MORE, than the advertised rate!!!
SANRAL you can take your E Tag and your bully SMS's and shove them where the sun does not shine!! I refuse to purchase an E Tag to use an existing road I have been freely using for the past 40 years!! With great reluctance I will pay the advertised rate... but I object to paying THREE TIMES MORE, because I choose not to purchase an E Tag!!!
