On 27/11/13 I applied to open an account at the pavilion branch, which the lady at customer service said takes a day or 2 to open. Having not heard from them, I popped into the branch on 6/12/13 to enquire if I qualified for the account and was advised that the account was opened. I enquired whether I qualified for the xmas voucher and birthday voucher and was told that I can pick up the xmas voucher after 10/12 (once i did a purchase on the account, which i duly did on 6/12) and the birthday voucher i would get in Jan (my birthday is on 24/12). I went to the store on 19/12 to enquire/collect the xmas voucher and was told that due to the account being new, i would not qualify for both vouchers.
Being a cash customer of Stuttafords, I am always cautious of overspending and as an afterthought and many months of deliberation, decided to open an account to enable me to spend a little more knowing that i can pay over 6mths, instead of outlaying large amounts of cash. I was surprised that they do not encourage more people to open accounts which would also lead to more sales.
My complaint is about the principle of the matter. I will be returning my purchases and closing my account.
