Bad service and avoiding customers

We went to Game Clearwater mall today to enquire about a spinning bike, the most expensive one on their floor. When we arrived at the sport section, as usual, there were no floor assistant available. I then proceeded in trying out the bike myself. But the pedals did not even turn. My wife went off looking for assistance elsewhere, when what looked like the manager walked off when he saw her approaching. I started waving my arms to try and get one of the three people that were deliberately looking away in order to avoid me, to pay attention. When one of the floor attendants eventually saw me, he also pretended to be busy by picking up a phone that was nearby and started walking away from me. He eventually came over after I went to fetch him, but he was of no help. He claims he works in that department yet he did not even know that the bike on the floor was completely faulty. When my wife mentioned that the people at Massmart head office will not be happy to hear about this he made the whole situation out to be of minor importance. We subsequently left as this is the second time that very department has been so unhelpful in as many times as we have visited the store.
